As Hurricane Florence closes in on the United States, we are reminded that at times, we are at the mercy of the weather. There are some things that you can do to prepare for a hurricane, though, and so we’ve compiled a short list of resources that you can use to prepare yourself for this hurricane season.

Current Tropical Cyclones and Disturbances: https://www.nhc.noaa.gov/

This resource on the homepage of the National Hurricane Center website shows the estimated locations of currently active tropical storms, hurricanes, and other disturbances. The interactive map allows users to take a look at the estimated track of incoming storms.

Click on the map for satellite images and click on the storm icons for more information.

National Weather Service: https://www.weather.gov/

This website has a variety of weather maps and forecasts to notify you of what to expect from the incoming weather.

According to their most recent update (as of 8:52 am EST on 9/13/2018), Hurricane Florence is expected to move slowly or even stall over the Southeastern United States, which could cause dangerous conditions for a prolonged period of time.
